Frequently Asked Questions

1Who is Dance and Movement group suitable for?
The Dance and Movement group is suitable for 6-10 year olds who enjoy dance and movement and would like the opportunity to socialise with others with similar interests, through participating in the larger group and also working in smaller groups to ‘choreograph’ a short sequence!
2How does this differ from a dance class at a studio?
The program focuses on social opportunities (work as a team to choreograph, being part of a group) as opposed to dance/physical activity/skill-based outcomes. It is less fast-paced than a dance class at a studio as the focus is not to learn a certain amount of choreography, and is also supported by visuals to suit a range of learning needs. This social group differs from some of our other offerings due to its movement-based nature and performative element: perfect for those who love dance, music and creative self expression!
3What do I wear?
Clothes that you can move in and sneakers.
4What does the group involve?
The program involves a group warm-up, learning a routine, creating a sequence in small groups (choreography), performing to others in the group and various other movement and creative tasks.
5What do I need to bring?
No need to bring anything apart from a water bottle!
6Where is the group held?
Group program sessions are held at our clinic in Lane Cove. Families are encouraged to arrive to the clinic approximately 5 minutes prior to the start of the session. The address of the clinic is: Ground Floor, 1 Pottery Lane, Lane Cove, 2066, NSW.
7How do I pay?

8What qualifications do the staff have?
All group programs are designed and led by certified Occupational Therapists. Allied Health Assistants are often on hand to assist also in the groups.
9What happens if I miss one of the sessions?
All group programs are designed so that a session can be missed without hindering future sessions. However, if you are unable to attend, we do appreciate 24 hours notice so that the facilitator can plan accordingly. Unfortunately we cannot provide a refund for missed group sessions.
