Jennie Bjorem, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a recognised expert in the field of Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and holds advanced training and expertise as acknowledged by Apraxia Kids™. Her primary focus lies in parent education and addressing the challenges associated with CAS. Currently, Jennie maintains a small caseload of children with CAS, ensuring hands-on involvement in her field of expertise.

In addition to her clinical work, Jennie is the owner of Bjorem Speech Publications, where she is dedicated to the mission of creating diverse, inclusive, and functional products. This commitment reflects her broader vision for supporting individuals with speech-related challenges and promoting inclusivity in educational resources.

Jennie's influence extends beyond her clinical and entrepreneurial pursuits, as she has been invited to share her knowledge and insights on CAS at both national and international forums. Renowned for her engaging, energetic, and empowering speaking style, Jennie is sought after as a presenter, contributing to the broader awareness and understanding of CAS on a global scale.

Jennie has collaborated with a range of speech pathologists around the world such as Amy Graham (Graham Speech Therapy), Shelby Ford (Shelby the SLP) Shannon Werbeckes (Speechy Musings) and Australian speech pathologist, Rebecca Reinking (Adventures in Speech Pathology), to create resources to support speech-language pathologists including Bjorem Speech Sound Cues, Minimal Pair Cards and most recently and Oral Motor Assessment Cards!


What you will learn

  • You will be able to define Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) and identify both the discriminative and non-discriminative characteristics of CAS.
  • You will learn to informally assess using a dynamic motor speech assessment and understand diagnostic criteria.
  • You will learn to implement motor learning guidelines when choosing targets for CAS therapy.
  • You will be able to explain and implement the cueing hierarchy in DTTC (Dynamic Temporal Tactile Cueing).
  • You will explore the components of motor learning principles and consciously incorporate them into therapy.
  • You will understand different strategies to use in motor planning therapy that focus on movement and coarticulation.

How you will learn

The day will incorporate a mixture of lecture style learning and small group interactive sessions to include:

  • Group activity to identify the 10 characteristics of CAS.
  • Group activity for assessment forms.
  • Partner/Table activity to ID Targets.
  • Playful Pathways to High Repetition: A Breakout Session.
  • CAS Simulation Activity.

1Where is the event being held?
The workshops will take place in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne. The venues will be in very central locations in each city. The specific venues will be announced a few months in advance once we have a clearer idea of the number of participants attending each event.
2Is food provided?
Each participant will receive as part of their ticket cost - morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea as well as tea, coffee and water throughout the day. Please let us know of any dietary requirements when booking your ticket.
3Can I purchase Bjorem Speech Publications products at the workshop?
We will be providing an opportunity for attendees to purchases products on the day.
4How do I pay?

5Can parents/carers attend?
The course is not suitable for parents or carers.
6What is the refund policy?
As the majority of the expenses to run the workshop are paid upfront, no refunds are possible. However, you will be able to transfer your ticket to a colleague.
7Can I join online?
Due to its interactive nature, the workshop is best experienced in a face-to-face setting and is not optimal for online learning.
